HDB Executive Maisonette Renovation
A different living experience in an HDB apartment.
According to research, HDB stopped constructing new executive maisonettes after the introduction of the Executive Condominium Housing Scheme in 1995, Executive Maisonettes are now in limited supply. Therefore, giving a new look to your existing EM will certainly raise the resale value of the apartment or a refreshed look for a better living environment.
There are many design potential and unique features of an HDB Executive Maisonette. A staircase in the HDB home and the double-volume space are some of the unique features of an HDB Executive Maisonette, making it an interesting space for designing and upgrading.
Another feature is, that the bedrooms are upstairs, so there is no way that anyone can peek into the bedrooms from the corridor. Guests can spend time downstairs in the living room and dining hall, keeping the rooms with more privacy.
Some Design themes to consider
Here are some common types of design styles that you may consider for the makeover:
- Contemporary
Contemporary design refers to things that are modern, today. It projects a feel of comfort, a simple and welcoming space. Less is more, in a contemporary style interior, finishes and furnishing focus on clean lines, shape, and form.
- Retro
One of the popular design approaches for the new age. Retro is not just the ’50s, ’60s, and the ’70s. A retro design is all about the reconstruction of a funky look from a previous time period. In a retro-style interior, vibrant color, molded fiberglass or plastic materials, printed patterns or fabric, and curvilinear and circular forms of furniture, are combined to create a look that is unique to that era. Another way to bring out the retro charm into the interior is by displaying some stylish yet vintage accessories.
- Chinese Classic
Chinese Classic style is all about bringing the Chinese traditional elements into a contemporary environment. Old and new, East and West, modern and classic combine to produce an elegant contemporary modern living style. This approach is usually toward a clean-lined, simple interior, relying on natural material, harmonious shapes, and Chinese elements to define the interior space.
- European Classic
Victorian and Art Deco are the main inspirations for a European classic design. This styling project is an elegant, comfortable, unique, and beautiful space. Classical moldings to walls and trimmings, crystal chandeliers, large framed artwork, a splash of neutral colors, and modern classic furniture are put together to bring out the beauty of this style.
